High School Hay Prank Gets Moldy

It's about that time of year when Senior Ditch Day is in full effect and we begin to hear about all the funny high school pranks that clever seniors come up with.  I've heard of an old car in the school pool, thousands of cups of water lining school hallways and staircases and placing all of the desks and chairs on top of the school roof.

Occasionally we hear of a high school prank going wrong.  But closing down a school for 4 days?  I don't think I've ever come across a prank that was that intense.  Until now.
I was browsing the Claims Journal today and came across this headline:  "Colorado High School Students Disciplined for Hay Prank".  I thought to myself, it's hay....how bad could it be?!  Here's the full article courtesy of the Claims Journal.

Colorado High School Students Disciplined for Hay Prank

"A group of high school students who came forward to claim responsibility for bringing hay into the school will face discipline ranging from apologies to volunteer service.

However, the Durango High School students will graduate on time and will not be required to pay the costs associated with the hay’s effects and its cleanup, the Durango Herald reports.

Classes had to be canceled for four days after cleanup crews removed 30 bales of hay that were spread by student pranksters, contaminating the school with mold spores.

The cost for cleaning and air-quality tests will be close to $200,000.

The district has insurance for events such as the hay incident, but the district will have a deductible it will have to pay."

Do you think the students should have been held financially responsible for this prank? Take the poll below and let us know you're thoughts.
